Obituary

DeLand, FL - George H. Daniels, 76, of Deland, FL, died April 25, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. George was born in Johnson City, NY and has lived in Florida since 1995. He had a long career with New York state government, beginning with the Office of Mental Hygiene and retiring as a Director of Staff Development and Training for the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. After retiring, he was a professor at Seminole State College in Health Sciences and more recently an instructor in Stetson University's Lifelong Learning Program.

George was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Daniels and his brother Eugene Daniels. He leaves a loving wife, Janet Leahey-Daniels, his mother, Margaret Daniels, his brother Ronald (& Janice) Daniels, his sister, Doris Seidel, his children, Maureen (& Tom) Gauvreau, Tracy (& Michelle Cutway) Daniels and Scott (& Scott Shea) Daniels, his grandchildren; Madison & Robby Gauvreau and Sydney & Sadie Daniels, and his many loving nieces and nephews.

George was a long-time member of the Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp Meeting Association and a past board member. He was an enthusiastic cook, gardener and dog-lover, most especially to his beloved Charlie who will be waiting to greet him in heaven. He volunteered as a foster parent and trainer for many rescue dogs and most recently volunteered with the Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. He also loved traveling, especially to sunny Las Vegas, and was always up for a grand adventure to add to his antique collections and other treasures.

There will be a celebration of George's wonderful life held in Cassadaga, FL on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at 2:30 in the Colby Temple at Cassadaga with a reception following in the Andrew Jackson Davis Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
