George C. Greer age 90 passed away Saturday October 9 2010 in his home after a long illness. Mr. Greer was born on December 12 1919 in Seaton Illinois. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday October 13 2010 at 3 p.m. at South Daytona Baptist Church. The Reverend Ronnie Barton will officiate. George was married to Ethel (Penny) Greer for 45 years. He was a longtime member of the South Daytona Baptist Church and a decorated World War II Veteran and Pilot. Even though he never flew again his love for aircraft and flying never died. He loved all of his family and friends. His selfless behavior foreshadowed the honor and integrity with which he conducted his entire life. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Penny Greer; three children Bill Greer Steve Greer and Gary Greer; three step children Diana Skaggs Bill Griffis Joe Griffis; seventeen grandchildren. George is preceded in death by one son Kenny Greer. In Lieu of flowers a donation in George's honor may be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia Flagler.
