IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geneva
Johnson
August 17, 1945 – January 23, 2025
On this day, January 23, 2025, Geneva Ann Johnson, nee Benson passed away peacefully in her sleep with her daughter, Deborah nearby. Geneva was born on August 17, 1945, in Kennett, Missouri. She moved to Florida and married David Hagin, giving birth to Deborah and David. A few years later, she married John Johnson, and gave birth to Tony and Curtis, becoming a stepmother to Trudy. Geneva dedicated her life to raising the children and her grandchildren, Catherine and Deborah.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years John Johnson, brother Wayne Benson, children Deborah Hagin, David Hagin (Reanne), Trudy Bergerson (David), Tony Johnson, Curtis Johnson, grandchildren Catherine Buckner (Bobby), Deborah Graham {deceased} (Carl), Jordan Hagin, Tabitha Bergerson, great grandchildren Mackenzie Rutherford, Ethan Buckner, Christian Buckner, Aidan Graham, Abigail Graham.
Geneva was a long-time resident of South Daytona. She enjoyed being surrounded by children. In addition to caring for her own children, she opened her home to friends and neighbors providing childcare for working families. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and always had something else going on, such as being an Amway dealer, throwing Tupperware parties or making wedding cakes. She also worked in Mortgage-Banking for a while at Security First Bank and Aqua Sun Investments. She loved to read and would often need to purchase more bookshelves to house all her books. Geneva leaves many wonderful memories that her family will always cherish. Her vulnerability, gullibility, smile, late-in-life tattoo, and constant desire for knick-knacks will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to honor Geneva's memory by donating to Autism Speaks https://www.autismspeaks.org/
