Gene A. Gable, known to everyone as Uncle Gene, passed away September 1, 2023 at the age of 65. He was living with his niece and family in Florida for the past 3 1/2 years.
He was preceded in death by his father Bob; mother, Rose; brother, Bobby; and numerous other close family and friends.
Uncle Gene was a truck driver for about 35 years traveling all over the country. He grew up in Sylmar, California, where in high school, he belonged to the swim team and loved it. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy for four years. Upon discharge, he became a machinist before he found his calling in trucking. When he became an uncle he was the happiest ever!! He loved it so much he became Uncle Gene to everyone and would introduce himself that way. He was truly loved by all even when his very opinionated self came through. Frankly, I believe we all rather admired that about him, even when he made us mad or irritated with his thoughts on a matter. He'd do anything for family and friends at the drop of a hat. He loved his family deeply and was very protective of us. He loved his Harley and looked forward to every weekend to have breakfast with his niece and nephew, then firing up that bike to go for a ride or to the Foxhead Lounge to meet up with friends for a beer or a ride. A good reason to go and have a chat with the young ladies tending bar. Always one for an adventure, he liked to experience new things, especially with family and  good friends. He absolutely loved to fish and go shooting. A very avid lover of most music and loved playing his bass guitar. He loved getting to play his bass with the bands at Danstock.
Impossible to share memorable moments because there were so many. He was truly one of a kind and definitely left a lasting impression. He will be impossible to forget by all that knew him. He was able to live with both nieces for several years to be Uncle Gene big time to his greatest loves, his nieces and nephews. The stories they could tell!!
He leaves behind his sister Kathy and husband Bob; his nieces Melissa (Herzog) and husband Scott, and  Erica (Campbell, his Punkin) and husband John; great nephews Ryan, Jayden and Dylan; great nephew Johnny and great niece McKenna. He also leaves behind his best friend Danny Alderson and so many that he loved like family. He had a lot more friends than he realized and will be greatly missed and loved.
As per his request there will be no funeral. A memorial will be held at a future date at the Foxhead Lounge.
