Gary William Smith Sr. "Smitty" 79, of Holly Hill Florida passed away in the early morning hours on Thursday June 30th, 2016. He was born in Millville New Jersey, February 19, 1937 to parents Joseph Ireland Smith and Julia May Smith (Moseley). He was the second of nine children. He is survived by his siblings Doris, Jim, Roy, Ken & Karen. His children Helena, Gary Jr., Randy, Raymond, Teresa & Adam. His grandchildren Brian, Joshua, Kaitlynrae, Melissa, Justice & Emily. And his great grandchildren Kennedi, Emmitt, Knia, Messiah & Maisyn. And his second wife Donna. Gary was always ready and willing to help a person in need, because it was the right thing to do. In the early 70's Gary gave the gift of bone marrow to his brother Phil who had Leukemia. That life saving marrow made it possible for Phil to fulfill his dream of having children. And soon Phil and his wife Gail were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Jenny, Gracie & Christine. In his giving nature, when his country needed him, Gary willingly stepped up and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Gary is preceded in death by his first wife Dolores H. Smith (Richardson), his parents Joseph & Julia Smith, his brothers Ellis, Ralph and Phil. He was known for his snarky jokes, and his kind & gentle spirit. He will be forever in our hearts.Arrangements are under the careful care of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
