Funeral Services for Gary Lee Matthews age 64 who passed away on July 13 2007 will be held on Thursday July 19 2007 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Wednesday July 18 2007 from 6 to 8pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach FL. Mr. Matthews was born on January 23 1943 in Lincoln NE to Jack & Leatha Matthews. He moved to the area in 1964 coming from Glendora CA. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran a former member of the Daytona Beach Police Department a retired lineman for FPL and a bondsman for 10 years with Ace Bail Bonds. Gary was a member & former deacon with First Baptist Church of Daytona Bch. did mission work in third world countries and served his community on many different levels. Gary was a gentle giant and a man among men who had boundless enthusiasm and love for his Lord family and country. Survivors include his father Jack of Lincoln NE and his mother Leatha Williams of Glendora CA; his sons Thomas P. (Charlene) of Flagler Bch & Kenneth J. of Daytona Beach; his daughters Jeana Lee (Scott) Foster & Paula Jeanne (Trent) Emerson both of Port Orange; a brother David and five sisters Patricia Leatha Candace Rhonda & Gayle and four grandchildren Paulina & Olivia Emerson and Rhett & Sophia Foster.
