Gail Ferrucci Camputaro of Ormond Beach, FL passed away Monday, May 7, 2018. She was born on August 7, 1943 in New Haven, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her parents Catherine and Lorenzo Ferrucci. Gail graduated from Lasell Jr. College with an A.S. Degree and the University of Connecticut with a B.A. degree. She moved to Florida with her family in 1971 where she soon became involved as a volunteer with Ormond Beach Neighborhood Child Care Center. Seeing the need to provide child care services for the low income working families she assisted with the incorporation and creation of United Child Care, wrote the grant to fund the agency and became its first director to provide day care services. Her next position was with the Council on Aging of Volusia County where she served as its Executive Director for over 27 years providing services to the aging population of our community. She was a past President of the Daytona Beach Rotary Club, former member of the Junior League, member of the Halifax Area Civic League, Women's Network as well as many other organizations on both a local and a state level. Gail received many awards and recognitions for her services to the community and serving those in need was her passion in life. Her family was without question her greatest joy. She was proud of her sons and grandchildren for the love they all embraced for others. Even in retirement she took pleasure in assisting those in need. Gail was a selfless, caring individual who was devoted to making life better for everyone. She was a kind hearted, giving person and her contributions to the community were immeasurable. She leaves her best friend and companion Ken Rentz, his sons Kenny and Rob Rentz, her sons Richard and Myles Camputaro, her three grandchildren, Myles, Tiffany and Caroline Camputaro, her daughter in law Stephanie Camputaro, her sister Linda Merrell, brother in law Dr. Robert Merrell and her nieces and nephews Rob Merrell, Diane Merrell-White, Christine Merrell, Larry Merrell and Matthew Merrell.
