Funeral services for Frederick W. Miller age 67 who passed away on July 29 2009 will be held Wednesday August 5th at 10 a.m. at Central Baptist Church on Fairview Ave. Daytona Beach. Chaplain Jim Smith and Reverend Charles Wallick will officiate. Fred's family will receive friends on Tuesday August 4th from 4-8 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Beach.

Fred was an honors graduate of the University of Miami (B.Ed.) Florida Atlantic (M.S.) and University of Central Florida (Ed S/ A.B.D.). He recently retired as an Assistant Superintendent for the School District of Volusia County Florida. His areas of responsibility included Student Transportation Services Student Nutrition Services District Security and Emergency Management Services Student Discipline Services School Attendance Area (Zoning) Services FTE and Student Accounting Services Archives and Student Records and Purchasing/Warehouse Services. Fred directed the development of the school district's safety and security plan which has been recognized as a model by Federal and State agencies. Fred served on numerous community boards state task forces councils and advisory panels including the State Interagency Advisory Committee for School Emergency Management Plans. Prior to his service with the Volusia County School District Fred proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and Miami-Dade County Public Schools in various school and district level positions.

As a passionate advocate for children Fred changed and affected generations of families in Volusia County. Every decision and action Fred made in his career was based on what was best for children.

Fred is survived by the love of his life wife Patricia A. Miller mother Ruth E. Miller Tampa Florida daughter Grace Gross (Scott) Las Vegas Nevada.
