IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frederick Cooper
Levering, Jr.
July 7, 1944 – February 10, 2024
Frederick Cooper Levering, Jr. (Rick), 79 of Daytona Beach, passed away on February 10, 2024, after a brief illness. Rick was born on July 7, 1944, to parents Frederick C. and Catherine E. Levering of Richmond, Virginia. He attended Douglas Freeman High School where he enjoyed participating in sports, especially track and tennis. He grew up with a great group of friends and family who he stayed close with always. He went on to attend the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) where he pursued business and art. He was recruited by Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation where he worked for many years in Military Sales. Outstanding service earned him a promotion and he soon relocated to Wichita Falls, Texas, and eventually to Orlando, Florida.
After retiring from Brown & Williamson, Rick moved to Daytona Beach, joining several members who relocated there including his Dad, Freddie and mother, Mimi. He became very active in the local tennis scene at Oceans Racquet Club and Pelican Bay C.C. He could also be found on the water either fishing, boating or jet skiing. Just sitting on the beach and watching the waves gave him great pleasure. He spent some time at Daytona Plastix and eventually started his own painting company, Rick Levering & Associates. The arrival of his daughter, Brooke, made his life complete. Eventually he retired for good and was able to spend more time with his family and watch over his parents before their passing. Family was everything and with the arrival of his grandsons, AJ and Cooper, they became his life. Watching them play sports gave him tremendous pleasure.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Catherine Brooke Levering Moore, son in law, Anthony D. Moore, grandsons Anthony D. Moore, Jr. (AJ) and Cooper D. Moore of Daytona Beach; Sister Kathleen Levering Milward and Brother in Law, Peter B. Milward; Niece Heather Milward and husband Erick Devinney and their daughter Bria, all of Roanoke, Virginia; Cousins Pat Gathman and her daughter Jan Gillespie of Ormond Beach and Kris Seitz of Greenville, South Carolina, Jon Lee Salmon of Richmond, Virginia, along with other family and friends.
A service will be held at Lohman Funeral Home in Daytona Beach (1423 Bellevue Avenue) this Friday, February 16 at 11:00 AM. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held on the beach at Winter Haven Park in Ponce Inlet (4589 S. Atlantic Avenue) for those who would like to attend.
