Frederick Hether age 92 of Daytona Beach passed away on Saturday October 22 2011. A funeral mass in his honor will be held on Wednesday Oct. 26 8:30 AM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 4675 S. Clyde Morris Port Orange followed by an interment at Volusia Memorial Cemetery. A 5PM visitation until a 7:00 Vigil and Knights of Columbus service will be held on Tuesday 10/25 at the Port Orange Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Homes. Fred was born the youngest of 9 children in Sharon Pennsylvania to John and Daisy Hether He was a proud WWII veteran of the US Army having served during the attack on Pearl Harbor and was later wounded in battle and carried his fellow soldier to safety. He dedicated his talents working in a steal mill in PA and after relocating to Florida in 1956 worked as an electrician for Rohr Products (later called Sherwood Medical) until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and a fourth degree Knight at the Knights of Columbus. He was blessed to travel to Japan Ireland and Australia and have the love of two wonderful marriages. He was a quiet proud independent gentleman who enjoyed keeping fit both mentally and physically the Florida beaches and sunshine a good Louis Lamar Western and riding around his community on his scooter but most of all spending time with his family.
His parents 8 siblings and beloved wife of 33 years Twila Chakan Hether as well as his second wife of 20 years Patricia McIlrath Hether and a step son Russell McIlrath preceded him in death and he leaves behind his children: Dr. Frederick (Meryl) Hether Dr. James (Kathe) Hether Jeanie (Bill) Borden Jane Self and Charles (Michele) Hether 10 children by marriage: Patricia (Bill) Waples Danny (Kathy) McIlrath Michael McIlrath Frederick McIlrath Jennifer (Doyle) Roberts Penelope (Ted) Dalton Julia (Brad) Taylor William McIlrath Samuel McIlrath and Aaron (Marcie) McIlrath nearly 200 grandchildren great grandchildren great great grandchildren and many loving extended family and friends.
