Freda S. Demarest 79 of Daytona Beach FL passed away on Saturday September 27 2008 at the Sarah House in Ormond Beach. Born January 20 1929 in Davenport N.Y. she was the daughter of the late LaVerne B. and Mary (Wheeler) Stewart. A funeral service will be held on Thursday October 2 4:00pm at Baggett & Summers Funeral Home with the Reverend Steven Smith officiating. A visitation will be held one hour before the service. Interment will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jefferson N.Y. Freda graduated in 1947 from Charlotte Valley Central School. She married Robert C. Demarest on June 20 1953 in Jefferson; he died in March 1991. She lived in Jefferson from 1953-1987 and then moved to Otego until 1991. She was a customer service representative with NYSEG for 27 years until her retirement in July 1986. Freda lived her winter months in Florida since 1989. She was a member of the Otego United Methodist Church the NYSEG Quarter Century Club and the Moose Lodge of Daytona. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Christie Stewart of Richfield Springs NY Fay Demarest Reim and husband Edwin of DeLand FL; nieces Kathy Crosby Pierson FL LoriIler Ormond Beach FL Robin Friend DeLeon Springs FL; nephews David Steward of Surfside Beach S.C. and Michael Steward of Baldwinsville N.Y.; and many grandnieces nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her three brothers M. John Gordon E. and Donald L. Stewart.
