Fred V. Gard Jr. age 84 of Daytona Beach went to his heavenly reward after a long illness on Tuesday May 18 2010. A funeral service in his honor will be held Saturday May 22 2010; 11:00AM at Westminster by the Sea Presbyterian Church 3221 S. Peninsula Dr. Daytona Beach followed by an interment at Daytona Memorial Park. Fred was born in St. Cloud Florida to Frederick Sr. and Lucille Gard. He was a proud graduate of Seabreeze High School US Army Air Corp veteran of WWII student of Florida State University and graduate of the University of Florida. He dedicated over 50 years to his company Peninsula Builders Inc. which specialized in building churches and was a member of Westminster by the Sea Presbyterian Church and Seabreeze / Mainland High Alumni Breakfast Club. Fred was a strong determined independent gentleman who enjoyed playing poker gardening travel but most of all spending time with his family. His brother Ed Gard and his beloved wife of 7 short years Shirley Lytle preceded him in death leaving him a single father to his daughter Cynthia Gard who survives him. He is also survived by his granddaughter Cierra Jackson a brother Mr. and Mrs. John and Donna Gard a sister in law; Nancy Gard and several nieces and nephews.
