Frank N. Otal, 95, of Daytona Beach, Florida passed away in Florida Hospital Hospice Care on March 16, 2017.

Born to Spanish immigrants, Isaac and Antonia Otal, in Detroit, Michigan, Frank lived most of his life in Detroit and retired to Daytona Beach in 1988. His beloved wife, Amapola Edo Otal, predeceased him in 2011. He is survived by his children, Thomas Otal and his wife Marissa of Gainesville, FL; Monica Otal of Baltimore, MD; and Anita Otal and her husband, David Bartnicki of Wildwood, MO; as well as his granddaughters, Lia Bartnicki and Christine Otal. Frank was much beloved by his immediate and extended family and his many friends.

Frank Otal was an accountant who owned Otal Business Service in Detroit. He loved his family and traveling with his wife. Frank was multilingual and served as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II as a translator and interpreter. While serving his country, Frank was awarded the Bronze Star for admirable actions and courage demonstrated during the V- bombing of London.

Frank enjoyed reading and reciting poetry, especially those of the authors, Edgar Guest and Robert Frost. He also loved sports and faithfully followed the Michigan collegiate and Detroit professional teams throughout his life. His genuine concern for humanity led him to contribute regularly to many charitable causes.

A Memorial Service celebrating Frank's life will be held on Saturday, April 22 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona beginning at 12 noon, with a gathering of family and friends beginning one hour prior. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
