Frank F. Ernst, 74, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on November 22, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Frank was born on January 17, 1948, to Margaret F. Rollins in Norwood, Massachusetts. After Frank graduated from Brockton High School in 1966, he began his career in restaurant management at establishments such as Friendly's and Brighams.
At the age of 17, Frank met the love of his life, Linda, in their hometown of Brockton, Massachusetts and were married in 1970. Frank and Linda went on to have two children, Rick Ernst and Barbara (Ernst) Potvin.
Frank and Linda purchased their first restaurant, Bonanza Steakhouse, in 1976 in Rochester, New Hampshire, which is where they lived and raised their children. He was an active supporter of the community until they relocated to Florida in 1992.
Frank went on to work in the restaurant business until he retired from Steak N' Shake in 2010 and started his career as a handyman under the business name of Ernst Remodeling supported by his wife who supervised his various projects such as tiling, painting and general maintenance. He and Linda also traveled the country in their RV, Robbin.
Frank was predeceased by his mother, in 2014, and his father, Stanley W. Rollins in 2020. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of 52 years, his son, Rick (Janine), his daughter Barbara (Carl), his brother Robert (Marybeth) Ernst, sister Cheryl (Benjamin) Dreezer, his five grandchildren, Makaela (Nick) Trochalakis, Lillian Gilbert, Katelyn Ernst, Luke Gilbert and Brooke Gilbert, his great-granddaughter Emmie Trochalakis and his dog Maddie Mae.
A celebration of life will be held on January 14, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at 70 Lynbrook Drive, Palm Coast, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Halifax Health Hospice, address 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
