Francis Burks Talbott, 91, passed away on June 1, 2014. He was born in Bedford Virginia, and was a resident of the Daytona Beach area since 1957 where he was a member and served in many capacities at Community United Methodist Church. Before moving to Daytona Beach, he attended Virginia Tech. and the University of Richmond. He served in the European theater during WW II in the 89th Infantry Division. He was awarded for his service in the US Army the French Legion of Honor Medal for his service in the Battle of Rhineland. This medal is the highest military distinction as stated by the Deputy Consul General of France.

Mr. Talbott was a building contractor and former member of the Military Order of the World Wars. In 1968, he was president of the Home Builder's Association of Daytona Beach. He was formally a board member of the zoning appeals of Volusia County, and a former member of the Daytona Beach Kiwanis's Club from 1978-1993, he served on the AAA Florida advisory board. Burks loved sports and was a former member of the Daytona Beach Quarterback Club, the Halifax Club, the Halifax Yacht Club, the Daytona Beach Outboard Club, the Lake Beresford Yacht Club, the Daytona Beach Golf Club, the Tomoka Oaks Golf Club, the Oceanside Country Club and the Pelican Bay Country Club.

Mr. Talbott is survived by his daughter, Kay Caldwell (Everett) of Deland; his son, Frank Talbott of Edgewater; daughter in law, Nancy Talbott of Port Orange; four grandchildren, Jennifer Manning, Frank Talbott (Rena), Kayce Shuler and Kevin Shuler (Michelle); five great grandchildren, Branden, Kelan, Kiersten, Ashlan and Addison, all of Port Orange.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 1:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. Family will receive friends Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 12:30pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Chapel. Intombment will immediately follow at Volusia Memorial Park Cemetery in Ormond Beach.
