Francis C. Rogerson Jr. 80 of ponce Inlet FL. passed away on Saturday November 7 2009. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday November 12 2009 at 6:00 pm in the chapel at Baggett & Summers Funeral Home 736 South Beach Street Daytona Beach Fl. Francis "Frank" beloved husband of Janet is also survived by children Robert (wife Christene) and Thomas (wife Cathy) Rogerson Margaret (husband Mike) Rogerson Spoor; stepchildren Ranjeet and Beena Singhal; grandchildren Juliette Billy Peter Sarah and Sophie Rogerson; Carley and Christian Spoor; Natasha Barclay and Nathan Singhal. Frank was born March 24 1929 in Brookline Massachusetts served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Frank took his radio operator skills over to civilian life where he became an amateur radio operator attaining an advanced license. His call sign was WB1 FBO. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in 1955 and a Masters degree in the same field in 1957. He was a registered professional engineer and worked on highway and bridge projects throughout New England. Frank was a lifelong sailor his mother used to say he could sail before he could walk. In the early 1970s Frank and two partners purchased the former Cordage Works from Columbian Rope Company and developed the property into a complex of retail industrial and business offices renamed Cordage Park. In 1990 the complex was sold and Frank retired. Janet flew into Frank's life at Plymouth Airport MA where both pilots enjoyed flying single engine land and sea aircraft. Frank also held a glider pilot license. They married in 1988 and moved to Ponce Inlet FL in February of 1992. Frank joined the Ponce Inlet Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and served as secretary until elected to the Ponce Inlet Town Council in 1998. He served as councilman from 1998 to 2000 and 2001 to 2005 in which term he was the vice mayor. He was also on the Town Code Enforcement board from 1996 to 1998 and on the Planning Commission from 206 to 2008. He enjoyed local government service and often said he wished he had entered politics earlier in life. Frank was also active in the Masons both in Massachusetts and Florida.
