In loving memory

Frances "Fran" Sampson

November 10, 1942 – July 5, 2023

Frances Cockey Sampson passed away peacefully on July 5th after a courageous 8-year battle with cancer, at her home in Palm Coast, Florida. She was in the comfort of her husband and best friend of 58 years, George H. Sampson, her sister Marti Hladish and her brother-in-law John Hladish. Fran was a kind and generous wife, mother and friend that blessed so many lives over the years. She was born on November 10, 1942, to the late Frederick (Fred) and Louise Cockey of Towson, MD. After graduating from The University of Maryland, College Park, with an Art degree, she dedicated her life to her family and creativity. Fran and George moved many times since they were married. That effort is an example of Fran's willingness to unconditionally help and support others.

Fran's legacy is highlighted by the many works of art she created and through her kind, compassionate, creative, and caring granddaughters who have inherited those traits. Her smile and ability to always see the good in people left a lasting impression on everyone who met her. Fran was a passionate skier and avid golfer who successfully scored multiple hole-in-ones. Fran's love for art and landscapes extended beyond her creations as she visited hundreds of art and cultural displays throughout the world. She also loved traveling the world alongside her husband and friends. Fran loved sharing her photos and memories from her trips.

Fran leaves behind her husband George, her sons Keith Sampson and Blaine Sampson, her daughter in-law MaryBeth Sampson and her three grandchildren, Lindsay, Michaela (Mia), and Elizabeth (Eliza) Sampson, her sister Marti Cockey Hladish and brother-in-law, John Hladish. As a bright point in many lives, she will be missed dearly by all of us. Our dear Fran will be laid to rest at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Lohman's Funeral Home in Ormond Beach, FL.
