Frances Landers Ferguson, 94 years old of Ormond Beach, FL passed away peacefully on April 8, 2023.

Fran was born on May 29, 1928 in Chicago, Ill. From graduation from High School at Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Ill she went on to receive her B.A. from Ripon College in 1950. In 1970 She received her Masters Degree in Education.

Fran met her husband Reverend Sumner Ferguson while at Ripon College and the two were married in 1950. Fran and Sumner lived in Chicago and Gary Indiana before moving to Florida in 1960 when Sumner became rector of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in 1960 and in 1967 moved to Daytona Beach.

Fran taught kindergarten at St. Gabriel's in Titusville, and then taught at Longstreet Elementary School in Daytona Beach for over 30 years until her retirement in 1993.

After her retirement, Fran and Sumner split their time between Ormond Beach and Wolf Laurel, North Carolina where they built their retirement retreat. Fran enjoyed spending time with her family, mining for gems, watching game shows, and working on word puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling, having visited every state in the United States, and trips to Europe and the Carribean.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Fran is predeceased by her husband of 73 years, W. Sumner Ferguson. She is survived by her children, Katherine F. Woodard (Chip) and David Ferguson (Nancy); six grandchildren, Jonathan Shadburn, Graham Woodard, Lauren Girard, Michael Woodard, Kaynie Ferguson, Alec Ferguson, and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Wells and Archer Girard.
