Wallace Evelyn Jenkins 79 a gifted musician and retired educator died at home on Monday September 24 2007. A Tribute To Her Life will be held at the United Presbyterian Church -
730 Beville Road Daytona Beach 32114 on Monday October 1 at 11:00 am.

Evelyn Jenkins Wallace began her musical career at the tender age of three and over the years became an accomplished classical organist and pianist as well as a jazz pianist. In Birmingham she played solo and with local musical groups and her debut with jazz bands began with the "Fess" Whatley Orchestra.

For many years Mrs. Wallace served as organist at Church of The Master New York NY and
as interim organist at Greater Centennial A.M.E. Zion Church. Upon returning to her career in
the field of jazz she toured with Erskine Hawkins and the Birmingham Heritage Band.

She also made appearances at the Academy of Arts and Letters Carnegie Hall Merkle Hall and Town Hall and served as accompanist for the Schubert Music Society and for many renowned artists.

On October 20 1990 Evelyn Jenkins Wallace added another star to her illustrious career by
being inducted into the State of Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.

All the while Mrs. Wallace shared her love for music with untold thousands of students through 30 years of teaching music in the New York City school system.

In addition to her many accomplishments she was a member of Chi Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Jack and Jill of America Inc Towne and Country Bridge
Club Talladega College Alumni Association American Bridge Association Inc. and The
Pelican Bay Country Club - Women's Club.

Evelyn Jenkins Wallace leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving and devoted husband Bertran "Bert" Wallace Four loving daughters; Rikki Creecy (William) Cincinnati OH; Debra Ramsey Daytona Beach FL; Valencia Wallace Westchester NY; Adrienne Wallace Daytona Beach FL. Four precious grandchildren Leah Moss-Vaden (Karl) Cleveland OH. Joycia Channel Ramsey Atlanta GA.; W.S. Creecy IV Dayton OH; Larry Duren Charleston SC one precious great grandson Justin Vaden. Two sisters Vivian Popielarski (George) New Port Richey FL.; Willie Stewart (Emerson) Queensboro MD a host of nephews cousins and many many lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers donations to Talladega College will be appreciated.
