Obituary

Evelyn G. Lannon, 89, of Ormond Beach, FL died peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2014 surrounded by her daughters and the caring staff of Halifax Health Hospice. A Funeral Service in her honor will be held Saturday, February 22 at 12:00pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Family welcomes friends for visitation at 11:30am.

Mom loved life and would be the first to tell you, "I had a ball!" She loved dancing with her wonderful boyfriend Normand at the Moose, Elks, and Eagles Clubs and going out to dinner. She loved reading a good book and had subscriptions to many magazines. Everywhere she went she enjoyed people and always had to joke with them about something. She was never hesitant to speak up if she thought something was not right.

She was born in Detroit, MI to Fredrick Bert Tressler and Ida Lily Spencer. She is predeceased by her husband John Richard Lannon and her great granddaughter Kate Wark. She went to high school at Cass Tech in Michigan through the 11th grade, got her GED in 1987 and her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate in 1992.
Her real joy though was working as a waitress which she did in Michigan and again for quite a few years after she moved to FL in 1974. She thought the people she waited on were so interesting and at times challenging. She always tried to make their meals enjoyable.

Evelyn must have recently written this in her own words: "It's been fun and I really hated to leave because my family was so much fun and interesting, but we all have to go sometime. I ended up having the best time of my life in the last half with good health and a zest for fun. And so, I had Nancy a devoted daughter, John, the jolliest one, Darla an angel and Rick a good person that I never saw enough of. I know I am deteriorating and it is time to pass on. It's been great."

She leaves behind her children and their spouses, a shout out for Doug, Ray (this one she got the biggest kick out of) and Cindy, along with six grandchildren: Rob, Laura, Charnell, Amanda, Linda and Douglas, and her great grandchildren: Suzanne, Frances, Ryan, Kate (deceased), Alfred, Liam, Robbie, and a new little one soon to be born in March. Mom was so much fun and always interested in hearing our stories. She will truly be missed.

A special thank you to her doctors that she thought so highly of and their staff: Dr. Cullen, Dr. D'Souza, Dr. Arab, Dr. Dodd and the doctors, nurses and staff at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. We are forever grateful to all of you! Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
