Evelyn Olive LaMotte, 87, Orange City, Florida passed away peacefully at John Knox Village on Monday, May 14, 2018.  Evelyn was born in Norwood, New York on June 1, 1930, received her Bachelor's degree  in Education from Potsdam College in New York, a Masters Degree in Counseling at what is now University of Central Florida and a Specialist Degree in Counseling at the University of New York at Albany.

Married for 53 years to Norman Edward LaMotte (died in 2006), they spent their lives raising 6 children, enjoyed time with friends and family, and traveled extensively throughout the U. S. and abroad. She is survived by her 6 children: Alan LaMotte (Cheryl)- Satellite Beach, Florida, Tina Quiggle (Glenn)- LaGrange, Georgia, David LaMotte (Karen)- Daytona Beach,  Florida, Brian LaMotte (Marcie)- Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Carrie Robertson (Jeff)- DeBary, Florida, Paul LaMotte (Michele)-Duluth, Georgia and her 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was a teacher and a guidance counselor in Volusia County School system for many years. She was nominated by Volusia County and awarded Elementary School Counselor of the Year for the state of Florida in 1983. She championed and started the Terrific Kid Program in Florida which eventually became a nation-wide program that recognized the positive contributions of children in schools.

She spent her volunteer time at Sugar Mill Gardens and at her church of many years, Epiphany Catholic Church in Port Orange, Florida.

Her family would like to thank John Knox Village and the wonderful care-givers there who loved and cared for their mother for the last 3 years.

Visitation will be at Lohman Funeral Home in Daytona, Friday, May 18, from 6pm-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Debary, Florida on Saturday, May 19 at 9:30.
