Evelyn Virginia Haak

Evelyn Virginia Haak was born on July 30, 1933 to Stephen Czarnecki and Ethel Wilson Czarnecki in Brooklyn, New York. Her father, a proud member of the New York City Fire Department and her mom, welcomed her home to the 3-story brownstone owned by Stephen's parents and shared with them and his eldest brother and family. Evelyn grew up in this quaint Polish/German area showing a true flair for socializing, learning and religion. She graduated with honors from St. Joseph's High School in Brooklyn New Yok in June 1951 and immediately went to work at the United States Army/Navy Terminal in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. It was there she met the love of her life, Kenny Haak. After a fun courtship, Evelyn and Kenny married on May 1954 and began an exciting and enduring 68 years together. The newlyweds eventually settled in a lovely little house in Bay Ridge Brooklyn right across the street from the Sisters of the Visitation of Mary Convent. Evelyn eventually adopted two beloved feline boys, Mortimer and Jasper, starting a lifetime commitment to support rescue cats. Ev and Ken also enjoyed weekends on the boat sailing up and down the Upper Hudson River with family and friends. Eventually, they herd retirement and adventure calling and moved to Lord's Valley, PA where they enjoyed a lovely home nestled in the woods where they entertained deer and bears on their back porch. They became very active in their community and local Catholic Church. Winters got a little harder, so there were years of living sic months in Lord's Valley in the summer and six months in their new house in Port Orange, Florida in the winter. Ev and Ken eventually settled full time in Port Orange where they were adopted by their beautiful feline fur girl, Lovley Stinkfoot. Ev spent the years in Port Orange making friends and becoming devoted to her church Charismatic and Healing Ministries. When Ev lost her best friend and one true love in January of 2023, we all knew that the light of her blythe spirit, creativity and energy for family and friends was dwindling and so with sadness and faith those who loved her watched and accepted that our Lord called her home. Everyone knew, as always, her beloved Kenny was there to take her hand and walk their next journey together.
