Eunice Tedder Lewis died on Wednesday August 24 2005 at her daughter?s residence surrounded by her loving family in Ormond Beach Fl. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 4:00 PM August 26 2005 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holly Hill with Pastor Frederick Schultz officiating.Mrs. Lewis was born in Port Orange Fl on December 9 1913 in the house located at the corner of Oak and Orange in which is one of the oldest houses in Port Orange which is recognized as an historic structure. Eunice graduated from Port Orange High School the year before the construction of its new red brick building that has since become home to Port Orange elementary school. She was Christian by faith supporting the Baptist and Lutheran churches. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holly Hill since 1955. Mrs. Lewis helped her husband run Lewis Garage on the corner of Volusia and Seagrave the next one was in South Daytona and the last one was on Carswell Ave. in Holly Hill. Traveling and exploring new places were an important parts of her married life. Eunice and her late husband Felton were avid fisherman. As one of the oldest living natives of Port Orange and perhaps the entire Halifax area Mrs. Lewis saw the growth of her home town as it progressed from Horse and Buggy days to the Space age. Her family and grandchildren was very important to her and she to them. She played an important role in her grandchildren?s lives and was extremely proud of them as they grew up. She delighted in their children too. Of all the gifts she gave her family the one they cherish most is her sense of humor. Laughter and smiles decorated her life and made her truly a rich person.She is preceded in death by husband John Felton Lewis in 1994 and Son Ted Lewis.Left to cherish her memories are Daughter Barbara Renner Ormond Beach; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Grandson Larry Renner of DeLand and his son Todd and daughter Stephanie. Grandson Ken Renner of Port Orange his wife Renee and daughter Rebecca; Granddaughter Barbara Renner Shepard of Summerfield Fl her husband Emery son Jeremy and daughter Aimee. Grandson Ted Lewis of Gainesville his wife Carolyn sons Daniel and Thomas and daughter Shannon. Granddaughter Patty Lewis Adams of Jacksonville her husband Craig and sons Blaine Brett.
