Eugene “Gene” McMillen, 84 passed away September 19, 2026 with his family by his side holding him until he took his last breath.

He was born in Canton, Ohio but moved to Deland, Florida when he was 8 years old.

Gene was known for his brilliant mind and many talents. He was a master carpenter, renovated his daughter’s “Mandy” home for which she will forever treasure.

He retired from H.J. Becker in Dayton, Ohio where he was the safety director.

Preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 46 years, Mildred “Midge” McMillen, his parents, Frank “Mac” and Luceila McMillen, and two sisters, Harriet “Mickie” Parks and Thelma Anstine.

Survived by two children, Derick McMillen and Miranda “Mandy” Johnson, both of Deland Florida; five grandchildren, one Kayleigh McMillen who was involved in his care and was by his side until the end, and three great grandchildren.

There will be no viewing and the family will have a graveside service.
