Eugene J. McKenna age 86 of Palm Coast FL passed away at Flagler Pines in Bunnell on Tuesday October 31 2006.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday November 11 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. The family will receive friends in the church Memorial Room from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow the Mass in the church columbarium.
Eugene was born in Pawtucket RI on March 13 1920 to the late Eugene A. & Elizabeth McKenna. He grew up in the Beachmont section of Revere MA. Eugene served as a 1st Lt in the Army Air Corps in WWII. His tour of foreign duty included China Burma & India aka CBI - flying over the Himalayans known as "flying the Hump".
He graduated from the University of Mass in 1950 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1980 he retired from the Timex Corp Middlebury CT and moved to Palm Coast in 1984. He enjoyed golfing and gardening.
Eugene is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years Bette Cook McKenna and four children: Michael (Wynne)McKenna of Montgomery Village MD Donald (Gail) McKenna of Louisville KY Carolyn (Vincent) Stebbins of Watertown CT and James (Elaine) McKenna of Hudson MA. He was blessed with seven grandchildren Kathy McKenna Burr Patrick McKenna Tom Stebbins Michelle Stebbins Maguire Matt McKenna Devon McKenna and David McKenna and five great-grandchildren. One sister Eileen (Carroll) Cook of Revere MA survives and they were preceded in death by two sisters Ruth (Robert) Shea and Betty (Charles) O'Dowd.
