Esther Jane Vought Reeves was born on April 14, 1924 in Albany, New York and raised in Tuwanda, Pennsylvania.
She earned her Nursing Degree in 1945 and worked as an RN at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital until May 1947. Esther then honored America with her services as a United States Navy Flight Nurse for more then 20 years, retiring in 1967 with her rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Esther married LCDR Joseph S. Reeves of the US Navy in 1961. They shared a beautiful marriage of 55 years.
Following her retirement from the US Navy, Esther became a homemaker and stepmother to Joe's two sons, Gordon and Joe III, and his daughter, Phyllis.
Esther enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, she was the Past President of the Zanesville Ohio Garden Society, sewing, and cooking. She was an artist, producing exceptional needlepoint. She was also a member of the ACBL, where she became a Bronze Star Master.
Esther is survived by her beloved husband, CMDR Jospeh S. Reeves, her loving step-daughter, Phyllis Reeves Dean, and stepson, Joe Reeves III
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13th from 10-11 am, funeral services with military honors will follow at 11:00am at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 West Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
