Erwin A. Ladau of Ormond Beach 81 passed away on July 3 2011 at Florida Hospital Oceanside. He was born in Brooklyn New York on February 26 1930. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 6th at 11:00 am at Lohman Funeral Home 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. Entombment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. He lived on Long Island in New York for 47 years and moved to Ormond Beach upon his retirement in 2001. He served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers as a commissioned officer during the Korean War. He graduated from Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree and was a New York State Registered Architect having designed many residential commercial educational and recreational structures during his career. For several years before his retirement he was appointed to and served in the position of Commissioner of Buildings for the town of North Hempstead on Long Island. He was a licensed multi-engine instrument rated commercial pilot and was a member of the Knights of Pythias the American Institute of Architects the New York Society of Architects and the New York Academy of Science. Erwin was a NRA sanctioned licensed pistol and rifle instructor. He enjoyed motorcycling and with his wife Evelyn enjoyed and taught ballroom dancing in the community where he lived. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Berger Ladau married on July 6 1952; his three sons Eric Lloyd Marc Leigh and Terrence David his daughters-in-law Ellen and Wendy and grandchildren Emily Abigail and Benjamin and a brother Jerome (Gloria).
