Erskine Beverly "Bev" Barton passed away at home in Ponce Inlet Florida, surrounded by family, on February 28, 2016. He was 81. Born in 1934 in Huntington, WVA to Lloyd Erskine Barton and Ottie Pauline Meadows Barton, he was talented and gracious, a well-spoken journalist who appreciated a clever pun and fine things. Known in Huntington as a local celebrity, he grew a bi-coastal career in radio and television, but will be remembered for a love that was as warm and broad as his hands. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Gail Yvonne Gilkerson Barton, and children, Tawna Barton Kramer, Todd Barton (Stacy), and Carrie Barton (Doug Booth); grandchildren, Elliott Kramer (Jenny), Bonne Kramer, Whitney Barton Sillery (Travis), Meredith Barton, Taylor Barton, Olivia Barton; step grandchildren Michele Wolfson (Gary) and Cynthia Jillings (deceased); great-grandchildren, Naomi, Landon and Cianna Kramer, Harper Sillery, Zachary and Olivia Wolfson. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Ronald Kramer. A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 10 at 2 PM, with a gathering of family and friends from 1:00 PM till the time of the service, from the Lohman Funeral Home 1201 Dunlawton Ave. Port Orange, Florida, A reception will follow at the Ponce Inlet Community Center.
