Ernest David Whedbee 73 of Ormond Beach died July 14 2008 after a courageous fight with pulmonary fibrosis. Visitation is scheduled for Friday evening July 18th from 7-9 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Beach. Services are scheduled for Saturday July 19th at 2:00 pm at Volusia County Baptist Church in Orange City with Pastor John Reynolds presiding. Burial will follow next week in Knoxville TN. Ernest was born November 3 1934 in Knoxville TN. He served in the United States Army for three years and moved between Tennessee and Florida where he worked as a plastering contractor. He was an active member of Volusia County Baptist Church and was an avid fan of Tennessee football the Boston Red Sox conservative politics and writing singing and playing music. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Mary Whedbee; a sister Patricia King and two brothers: Charles and Bill Whedbee; His children also survive: Tim Whedbee Cindy Morris Connie Marquette and Becky Taylor; Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and two German Shepherds Nikki and Nanna. Ernest will be remembered as a devoted husband and father as a man who went out of his way to help anyone in need and as a person who could make you smile even in the most difficult of circumstances.
