Ernest Edmund Godin, 91, of Daytona Beach Shores, passed away peacefully on February 26,
2024 in hospice care at Advent Health Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Ernest, fondly known as Ernie, was born to Adolphe and Regina (Royer) Godin on December 6,
1932, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He graduated from Rudyard High School, Rudyard, Michigan
in 1950. His love of aviation led him to enlist in the US Air Force in 1952. He completed basic
training at Lackland AFB in Texas. Then became a Flight Chief with the US Air Force. He
worked for United Airlines in Omaha, Nebraska until 1965, then was recruited to work for Air
America in Taiwan and Okinawa until 1972. In 1996, he retired from Williams International in
Walled Lake, Michigan as a Superintendent overseeing the Repair and Overhaul of jet engines.
He is survived by his four children; Ernest Godin, Jr. (Wife-Pornthip) in Thailand, Lori
Broughton (Husband-Michael) and Anthony Godin (Wife-Sharon) in Michigan, Catherine Godin
in California, extended family; Gary Godin in Tennessee, David Olivares in Texas, and dear
friend, Betty Wade in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. He is also survived by many nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Olivares from

He loved spending time with family and friends and always had an open door. Since moving to
Florida, he could be found walking on the beach each morning at sunrise. He was a rolling stone
and traveled to and lived in every continent except Antarctica. He was extremely personable and
made life-long friends everywhere he lived and traveled to.
He was a wonderful father, friend, and family member. He had an amazing memory and loved to
share his stories. He was larger than life and his passing will leave a void for so many.
