A Celebration of Life for Ernest P. Holder 83 who passed away on Friday March 7 2008 in Ormond Beach Fl. will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond with Rev. Joe Putting of Tomoka Christian Church officiating. He was born on April 9 1924 in Detroit the son of Ernest and Grace (White) Holder. Ernest is survived by his long term and devoted companion Gloria AltaVilla and his sister Virginia (Charles) Hanchett. He was married to the late Joan Grayson on Dec. 6 1947 with whom he had six children. He is also preceded in death by his son Charles Holder and his daughter Nancy (Christopher Parsons). Survived by his children Richard Holder Peggy Pegg Edward Holder (Anne) and Joseph Holder. He was the loving grandfather of Joseph (Carly) Holder Bruce (Kristin) Holder Michael Holder Christian (Dawn) Parsons Glenn (Lisa) Parsons Jon Hutson Makala Hodges Dustin Holder Nicholas Holder and Sara Dunn. Ernest was delighted to have ten great-grandchildren; Zachery Adam and Noah (Joseph) Bradley (Bruce) Jacob (Christian) Kavan (Glenn) Alex (Jon) Alexander and Monica (Makala) and Bryce (Dustin) and extended family Christopher Alta Ville and Julia Dovey and his many friends in Florida. Ernest served his country in the United States Army during World War II for three years over seas in the Pacific. He attended Michigan State Syracuse Univ. University of Illinois and graduated from Wayne State University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He enjoyed a career as Sales Manger for Sparks Broadcasting Company for 25 years before starting his own business Radio Associates. Ernest volunteered at many charitable and community organizations. He was a past president of the Optimist Club vice president of the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Adcraft Club of Detroit Phi Delta Theta Fraternity YMCA Board of Directors Mason's Royal Oak Lodge #464 F.E.A.M Royal Oak Mason RO #167 R.A.M. Knight Templar Holy Grail Comm. #58 Shrine- Moslem Temple Detroit. He lived his life according to his motto "never give up!" He enjoyed his later years with frequent cruises and travel.
