Enid Martin Shevlin Flanders was called into the Church Triumphant on January 5 2007. She was born in New York City where she graduated from the Horace Mann School for Girls. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wellesley College in 1931 and did graduate work at Brown University and Yale University. She was married for 39 years to Bernard Shevlin who died in 1976. She is survived by her four children; Dr. Philip (Laura) Shevlin of Auburn AL; Dr. Craig Shevlin of Nova Lima Brazil; Robert Shevlin of E. Northport NY and the Rev. Debra (Stephen) Henning of Ormond Beach FL; by two grandchildren: Karen (Joshua) Mahoney of San Francisco & Katherine Shevlin of Auburn AL and one great-grandchild Lucinda Mahoney. Enid married Rev. Leon Flanders in 1977 and was widowed in 1982. She has been active n the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) much of her life. She was a charter member of North Shore Presbyterian Church Great Neck NY where she was ordained an elder in 1961. Since then she has served on the sessions of several other Presbyterian churches including First Presbyterian Church Greenlawn NY and First Presbyterian Church Northport NY. For many years she worked for the Presbytery of Long Island. At her death she was a member of the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church. She moved to Ormond Beach in 2003 from Little Rock AK where she was a resident of Presbyterian Village. She was a resident of Avante of Ormond Beach when she died at the age of 96. Interment will be in Northport Rural Cemetery Northport NY. There will be a memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church Northport NY on January 28 2007 at 3:00P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church 330 Main St. Northport NY 11768 designated for the fund for the Self Development of Peoples of the Presbyterian Church.
