Emil A. Rudat, 94, passed peacefully on November 28, 2013 in his residence at Indigo Palms Assisted Living Facility in Daytona Beach, FL. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had established his own family in River Edge, N.J. Emil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Zeltmann) Rudat; a son, Paul of Palm Coast, FL; a daughter, Kristin and her husband Rob Schofield of Lancaster, MA. Emil is predeceased by his sister L. Martha Rudat of Phoenix, AZ.

Emil was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army 24th Armed Corps. He attended Radio Repairman School while in the military then earned degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering while employed at RCA where he met Dorothy, his wife. Emil held several patents for his designs and once received RCA Company's Engineer of the Year Award. He retired from RCA, after 38 years of service, to Ormond Beach, FL. Emil loved to tinker with electronics, and would task himself to fix most anything that had broken down. In addition, he was a licensed Amateur Radio Operator (W8MCY) and enjoyed communicating with friends from distant places he met on the air waves or in travels. Emil was known to go to great lengths to help anybody in need. He loved a challenge and would use his analytical mind to help find a solution. "You can never do wrong by doing right" he used to say, which was evident by the way he lived his life.

There are no scheduled visiting hours. Funeral arrangements are by Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Burial service will be at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ at the convenience of the family.
