Obituary

Elsie (Ellie) Grech passed away on July 22, 2022 at the age of 86 years after a brief battle against lung cancer. The oldest child of Austrian immigrants, Ellie was born in Manhattan, New York and raised in Astoria, Queens, New York. Ellie and her late husband George made a home for their family in Rockville Centre, New York for 31 years and then retired to Palm Coast, Florida in 1994. Ellie was active in the Flagler County Republican Club, the St. Augustine/Palm Coast Council of the Navy League of the United States, her bridge group, and her beloved St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish.

Ellie worked for the Village of Rockville Centre as a School Crossing Guard and later in the Building Department as a Health and Safety Inspector. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and was actively involved her son's scouting activities, spent countless hours volunteering and fundraising for Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre and organized numerous family camping excursions.

Ellie was married to George Grech, her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, who passed away on October 23, 2021. She is survived by sons Robert and daughter-in-law Kathy, Tom and daughter-in-law Janet, two beloved grandchildren, Thomas and Ashley, and several nieces and nephews. She also was predeceased by her brother Rudolph Deutsch.
