Obituary

Elouise Gaby a native of Florida was born in Jacksonville in 1920 but grew up and lived most of her life in the Miami area before moving to Ormond Beach with her husband Donald in 1994 and to Daytona Beach in 2000. She passed over at The Arbors at Ormond Beach on May 7 2005 after a long bout with Alzheimer?s disease. Elly moved to Chicago during the Second World War and worked for Douglas Aircraft helping to build C-47s DC-3s for the war effort. In Miami she worked for Dade County Sheriff Tom Kelly?s office and for the City National Bank in various capacities lastly as private secretary to the president of the Coral Gables branch. After marriage to Don Gaby in 1961 she was happy to become a homemaker. They volunteered for many years at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Don and Elly loved to travel and they visited many countries besides their own. In Miami Elly was a member of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden a membership she maintained for over 45 years and the Vizcayans; and in the Daytona area a member of the Daytona Beach Symphony Society the Daytona Playhouse and the Halifax River Yacht Club. Elly is survived by her husband Don in Daytona; plus a daughter Sharon son-in-law Tom Calnan and grandson Patrick all of Coral Springs FL. Remembrances may be made in Elly?s memory to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden 10901 Old Cutler Rd. Miami FL 33156. Condolences may be made via the family guest book at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com.
