Elmer Bennett age 87 of Daytona Beach passed followed by a brief illness on Sunday July 12 2009. An 11:00 AM visitation and 12:00 PM funeral service in his honor will be held Friday July 17 2009; with Rev. Pam Stewart Officiating followed by military honors and an interment at Daytona Memorial Park.

Elmer was born in Pittsburg PA to Richard and Anna Bennett and came to Daytona Beach in the 1950's . He was a proud WWII veteran of the US Army and devoted many years as a cashier for the Atlantic Bank and Jai Alai Gaming. He was a man of many talents especially a good cook who enjoyed taking care of his home and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents his beloved wife of 47 years Francis Bennett; a son R. Scott Bennett and a step son David E. Mayfield and R. Michael Wallington. He leaves behind a son Lawrence B. (Cathy) Bennett Columbia MD; and his children by marriage Gary L. (Ann) Mayfield Brentwood TN Melissa C. (Paul) Overton Columbia TN 1 grandson 8 step-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren.
