Obituary

Ellis Jaynes LaCourt, 89, of Palm Coast, Florida and formerly of Lake Placid, Florida passed away at home surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, July 16, 2025.  He was born on May 18, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served honorably in the United States Army.  Giving back to his community, he was a Freemason, as well as a member of the Order of the Easter Star, and as a proud veteran, was a member of the American Legion.  Throughout the years Ellis had many hobbies, including owning a 1932 Pontiac and attending car shows, golfing, bird watching and gardening – especially his love of roses.  He was a life-long outdoorsman, enjoying freshwater fishing and hunting.  Above all those activities, Ellis was a husband and family man.  He took pride in his family and demonstrated what it means to be an amazing husband and, making little moments feel special.

Ellis is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Karen M. LaCourt; daughter, Geri Grinstead (husband, Steve); daughter, Denise Nicholson (husband, Mark); son, Jay Ellis LaCourt (wife, Cheryl); sister, Gail G. Lentz; granddaughter, Tanya Whidby (husband, David); grandson, Jamie LaCourt (wife, Allison); granddaughter, Jessica Hawley (husband, James); granddaughter, Randi Johnston (husband, Matt); granddaughter, Jennafer LaCourt; granddaughter, Katelin LaCourt; grandson, Andrew Grinstead; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and other extended family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Gertrude LaCourt.

A special thank you is extended to Gentiva Hospice for the care, kindness and support they provided to Ellis and his family during his final days.

A celebration of life will be held on September 13th 2025 at the Life Coast Family Center, located in the Marvin Gardens Plaza, 4601 E. Moody Blvd. Ste K6 Bunnell, Florida 32110 at 11am. Service will begin at 11:30AM followed by a light lunch.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org, the American Cancer Society  at www.cancer.org and the Life Coast Church at www.lifecoast.org
