Elizabeth Gray Haire died Friday November 21 2003 in Tallahassee Florida. Born and reared in Quincy Florida Elizabeth was the daughter of Gertrude Darsey and Charles H. Gray Sr. Mr. Gray was the school superintendent of Gadsden County for many years. After high school Elizabeth attended FSCW in Tallahassee and later married Marcus L. Haire. During their 57 years together they lived in several cities and after World War II settled in the Daytona Beach area. While there she owned and operated seven children?s specialty boutiques along the Florida coastline.
Preceding her in death were her parents her husband and her two brothers Dr. Edwin D. Gray of Ormond Beach Florida and Dr. Charles H. Gray Jr. of Quincy Florida.
Mrs. Haire was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Quincy Florida. She was also a member of Oceanside Country Club the Halifax Yacht Club and other local organizations. Among her survivors are two sisters: Jimmie Gray Beck and husband Dr. Otis Beck of Tallahassee and Evelyn Gray Smith and husband L. Jack Smith of Mobile Alabama. Other survivors include four nieces ten nephews and 24 grandnieces and grandnephews.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 26 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Ormond Funeral Home in Ormond Beach Florida 733 West Granada Blvd. 386-673-1100 with interment at the Garden of Resurrection Grace Lutheran Church 338 Ocean Shore Blvd. Ormond Beach Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Centenary United Methodist Church 206 N. Madison St. Quincy FL 32351.
