Elizabeth Barrett Cocks, 87 of Holly Hill, Florida passed away on August 30, 2014.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M., at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 P.M., with burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park.

Elizabeth was born in Warsaw, Ohio on June 18, 1927 to the late Mary and William Allison Barrett. She attended school in West Lafayette, Ohio where her father was Principal of the High School. Elizabeth moved to Florida in 1949 and has lived in Daytona Beach since. She was a 69 year member of the Eastern Star, OES Chapter #1 and a former member of the Hillcrest Garden Club.

Her real love was bowling. She was a member of the Daytona Beach Bowling Association for over 50 years, their president for 12 years and during her term hosted the largest state tournament in Florida history. She was inducted into their Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service in 1991, made Life Member in 1995 and Member Emerita in 2004. In 1984 she helped form the local Daytona Beach 500 Bowling Club for which she was their President for 26 years. She was the first to be inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1999 and also a Life Member. She helped form the Florida 500 Bowling Club in 1990, was their president for 16 years and was the first to be inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2000. She is also a Life Member of the Florida 500 Bowling Club.

She received the Florida State Bowling Association "Rose Kessel" award in 1999 for doing the most in the state of Florida for bowling. She planned many trips for the bowlers over the years. She had to give up bowling a few years ago because of poor health but has enjoyed Wii bowling at Bishop's Glen. She loved to travel to Las Vegas for bowling and to see her grandson. She was chairman of the Yuletide Group of 150 ladies for 35 years who helped needy families at Christmas time. Many, many families were helped over the years. She moved to Bishop's Glen in 2005 and became active immediately with their activities.

She was predeceased by parents, Mary and William Allison Barrett, her beloved husband Police Officer, James D. Cocks; and a sister, Ellen Connor.Elizabeth is survived by son, Stephen Cocks (Glenda), of Ormond Beach, Florida; grandson, Allen Cocks (Kelly Stone), of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister Martha McCrea of Fresno, Ohio; sister in law, Florence Cocks, of Long Island, New York; and many nieces and nephews.Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
