Elizabeth L. Brooks-Parr died unexpectedly at Halifax Medical Center on Thursday September 03 2004. Her passing has left her family friends and colleagues with an unimaginable grief.

Originally form Syracuse New York Mrs. Brooks-Parr moved to Daytona Beach in 1963 to work with General Electric where she was employed for many years. In 1977 she began a career with the City of Daytona Beach which ultimately led her to a position within the Special Services Division of the Daytona Beach Police Department for 26 years. Elizabeth blossomed within this field where her professionalism perfectionism and dedication were always tempered by her deep commitment caring and concern for the Police Officers whom she considered to be and extension of her family. She worked tirelessly within the Department dedicating many hours beyond her paid workweek never expecting remuneration as was her generous spirit. It was this work ethic that led to countless accolades from the city of Daytona Beach including The Bernard Schneider Civilian Employee of the Year.

If Elizabeth was not at the Police Department then she could be boisterously found within the press box or on the sidelines of a softball field. She was passionately involved with the Men?s Softball Leagues of Daytona Beach South Daytona and Ormond Beach for almost 35 years. She was never far from the clay fields and always had a clipboard in hand.

Spiritually Mrs. Brooks-Parr was a dedicated and devout Catholic Parishioner at St. Paul?s Catholic Church in Daytona Beach for forty years.

Many if not all that met Elizabeth were touched in some positive way by her strength kindness and compassionate spirit. She was an impossibly loving human being extending her love beyond those related by blood to include innumerable friends and colleagues.

She is preceded in death by her previous husband James Louis Brooks. She leaves behind her devoted and loving family: Her husband Richer ?Spider: Parr her children Mary Elizabeth Evans Johnson and Christopher Louis Brooks her granddaughter Megan ?Boo? Faye Evans Johnson her son-in-law Robert Johnson and her ?sisters? Mary Carter and Elaine Lynch and lastly the newest addition to the family Moo Moo.

A visitation will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday September 21 2004 from 12:00 p.m. ? 2:00 p.m. with a Funeral Mass to be held at 2:00 p.m. with Father Robert Webster officiating.
