It is with great sorrow that our family announces that our beloved wife and mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Russell, passed peacefully from this world into the loving arms of our Lord and Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 20, 2016.
Betty was born in Daytona Beach to Bertha and Louis E. Sizemore Sr. on May 13, 1932. She joined her four siblings, Lorena Speidel, Louis E. Sizemore Jr., Kathy Vilkinofski and Robert Sizemore. Mom was an extraordinarily loving, caring, compassionate, and devoted wife and Mother, who dedicated her life to her family, friends, and her church. Her professions included being both a licensed insurance agent and a broker- saleswoman in the real estate industry. Betty and her husband Bill also built and sold houses in the Summer Trees subdivision in Port Orange. She and Bill loved traveling the country in their motor home, visiting every state in the union that they could reach by land. As an avid photographer, Betty made sure the travels were well documented. She and her loving husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 15th, 2016.
We will all miss her smile, her wit, her wise counsel, and her love. We love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.
Betty was predeceased by her parents and brother, Louis E. Sizemore. She leaves behind to grieve her loss her husband Elmer W. "Bill" Russell, sons Robert Dan Ravan and John E. Ravan, her daughter Karen Torpy, her many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and two great- great- grandchildren. A funeral service will be held for Betty on Wednesday, December 28th at 1:30 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, with a gathering of family and friends beginning one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Alzheimer's and dementia research.
