Eligah ""Smokey"" Johnson 87 of Holly Hill went to heaven Saturday January 21 2012 surrounded by his loving family and pastor. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Ossie.
Eligah had worked as a custodian for the Volusia County School Board for 10 years; and as a security guard for Bethune Cookman College.
Eligah loved his family and his church. He was a deacon at St Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He was active in Senior Saints and Progressive Pallbearers. So many friends and relatives visited him over the last few months he told his daughter ""Lorene you made me have my funeral while I was alive.""
Eligah was a farmer from his heart. He was a highly skilled and honored agriculturist and landscaper. He believed in planting by the phases of the moon.
Eligah will be sadly missed by his children: Charlie (Jessie) Willie James (Anna Laura) Eligah Jr. Sara and Lorene. His grandchildren: Walter (Tasha) Larosa (Patrick) Toni (Jeramine) Teneisha Charles Jr. (Toni) Sonya Cynthia Cheryl Willie James Jr. (Traci) Roxanne Eric (Teanna) Michael Rosalyn Elisha Derin and Karen. Eligah was predeceased by his grandson Shawn and 2 brothers. He is survived by his sister Mary Lee McKinnon 46 great-grandchildren 8 great-great grandchildren many nieces nephews and friends including: The Moores Mr. Davis Carl Jones The Bletchers Bradon Wilson The Browns.
His family welcomes friends for Visitation on Friday January 27 2012 from 5-7pm at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Av. Daytona Beach. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 28 2012 at 11:00am at St Paul Missionary Baptist Church 1125 Graham Av. Holly Hill. Procession to Daytona Memorial Park will follow in the 1939 Antique Hearse that Eligah called ""the Rolls Royce"".
