For 79 years Eleanor (Ellie) Merrick of Daytona Beach, FL, lived her life as a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and of Greek Orthodox faith. Born in New York, Ellie is survived by her sister; Ann Bonura, her daughter; Christine Gerhardt, as well as her loving granddaughter; Alyssa, and many special nieces and nephews. She graduated with a degree in nursing and later pursued a fulfilling career as a nursing instructor at Englewood Hospital School of Nursing in New Jersey and taught for many years. Ellie took early retirement and moved to the sunshine state where she enjoyed tennis, many friends, and her passion for gardening and love of plants. Ellie passed peacefully at her home on January 29, 2023 from pancreatic cancer and is now in the company of her beloved husband Manny and other loved ones who passed before her. Viewing will be held Tuesday, February 7th at Lohman Funeral Home, Daytona Beach from 5pm to 7pm with the Trisagion service at 6:30pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8th, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 129 N Halifax Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL, at 10am with Fr. Joseph Samaan presiding. Burial will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. The Family would like to thank Onyx Home Care for taking such good care of her for the past two years, especially in her final days.
