Eleanor Judith Gundersen age 79 of Lake Helen passed away on Sunday January 2 2011 at Florida Hospital Deland after a short illness. Visitation will be held on Monday January 10 2011 5:00 - 7:00 PM. A funeral service in her honor will be held on Tuesday January 11 2011 at 11:00 AM. Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at the Deland Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home followed by and interment at Oakdale Cemetery in Deland FL.
Eleanor was born in Lynbrook New York to Erling Leif and Anna Andaas. In High School Eleanor was very proud to be the schools "majorette" for their High School Band. As a homemaker her lifelong interest revolved around her husband Peter their family and the championship ribbon winning Alaskan Malamute's they raised. She loved; working outside in the warm weather her garden and animals but her wonderful cooking and baking was her families treat during the holidays. For several years Pete and Ellie were members of the Fort Lauderdale Sons of Norway. They once hosted the annual Christmas Party which gave them many wonderful memories. She later became a member of the Orlando FL Sons of Norway with her son Kristian and his wife Toni-Jean.
Mrs. Gundersen was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years and high school sweetheart Peter Busch Gundersen Jr. and baby daughter Gail Sonia Gundersen. She leaves behind to cherish her memory 5 children: Linda (Joseph) Avery Gloria (Walter) Dudek Kristian(Toni-Jean) Gundersen Erling Leif (Mary Ann) Gundersen and Trudy(Douglas) Barton and 6 grandchildren: Denise (Chad) Bautista-Hazen Eleanor (Bryan) Bernard Eric (Naomi) Lashinsky Allisen (Benjamin) DeLoach Kristen (John Jacob "JJ") Curry
Evan (Karina) Gundersen Kyle and Sarah Barton Lydia and Peter Avery. Eleanor also enjoyed her 10 great-grandchildren.
