Edwin (Eddie) Newell Blair, 97, of Daytona Beach, Florida went home to his heavenly Father on April 10, 2018. Eddie was born April 9, 1921 in Newberry, FL. to Herbert Van Blair and Grace Poppell Blair. He later moved to Cross City, Fl. where he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from April 1939 to January 1940 under the War Dept. at Co. 1140. He worked in the Forestry Dept. enroute to Camp Gilroy, P-305, California, until his discharge in September 1940. He later moved to Jacksonville and held membership in the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 234 from 1942 until the present time. He was L.U. 234 local Business Manager from 1961-1967, appointed as Special Representative to the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitters Industry of the U.S. and Canada located in Washington, D.C., receiving a promotion in 1971 to U.A. International Rep until his retirement on December 31, 1986. He remained active however, receiving many special  assignments. Eddie held memberships in in several organizations; 32 degree perpetual member in the Orient and Accepted Scottish Rite Bodies, Jacksonville, Fl.; Solomon Lodge no. 20, completing 60 years in the Masonic Fraternity; Lifetime Charter Member of the WWII Memorial Society; life member of the VFW Post 09986 and Navy Seebee Island X-19 of Daytona Beach.  Eddie proudly served his country as a Navy Seebee, during WWII in the South Pacific as Petty Officer 1 ^st Class, and Ship-fitter and Demolition from May 1942 – November 1945, before receiving his Honorable Discharge. Eddie and his wife Angelina (Romeo) Blair lived in Astor, Fl. from the time of their marriage in April of 1986 through 2011, before moving to Pelican Bay in Daytona Beach. Eddie enjoyed gardening, caring for several types of flowers and plants, fishing and boating on the St. John's River and traveling with Angie throughout the U.S. and Canada in their motor home, spending most of their time at a campground in upstate N.Y. Eddie truly enjoyed reading daily from his Bible and appreciated his membership and association with Westside Baptist Church. Eddie enjoyed time with his daughter Diane and her toy poodle, Jazz, time spent with his son Edwin Jr. during his "many" visits with dad and the many oyster roasts held at the home of his daughter Teresa in Jacksonville. He was a loving and loyal husband and father, who got great joy from spending his time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his sage advice, his dry sense of humor, and the numerous contributions to the lives of the many people who had the opportunity to know him. Eddie was predeceased by his parents, his siblings; Earl, Ernest, Evelyn, Everett, Elzie and Ernestine, his former wife, Juanita Johns Blair, and his son Joseph (Joey) Miller whom he sorely missed. Those left to cherish Eddie's memory include his loving and caring wife Angie, children, Diane Blair (Marvin) McWilliams, Edwin N. (Patricia) Blair, Jr. Teresa Blair (Demere) Mason, Anna Marie Bowden ,and Bill (Marcella) Miller, his eleven grandchildren , five great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his extended family in Upstate N.Y. Eddie is also survived by his dear friends Benny and June Hart, Armie Armstrong, William Gay and the many others he met along his many years. A Funeral Service will be held for Eddie on Monday, April 16 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona at 1 pm with Dr. Bob Hadley officiating. Visiting hours will begin one hour prior to service and burial with Military Honors will immediately follow the service.
