Obituary

Memorial Service for Dr. Edward Lauck Thompson Jr. a life long resident of Daytona Beach died June 1 2006 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson?s disease will be held on Saturday June 24th at 10:00 AM with Rev. Bob Moorehead officiating at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona 1423 Bellevue Avenue Daytona Beach FL. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dr. Thompson was born in Tuscola Ill. But moved to Daytona Beach at the age of 6 months. He graduated from Seabreeze High School in 1939 where he was a member of the band and the Eight Ball Club. He was a lifeguard in Daytona Beach in 1941 and attended Marion Military Institute. He attended and graduated from Atlanta Dental School in 1945. He served in the Navy during WW11 at Paris Island as a dentist and again in Korea ending his military service as a Lieutenant Commander. He practiced dentistry with his father on Beach Street. He was an avid trap and skeet shooter all his life and was a three time Junior Trap Shooting State Championship along with other awards over the years. His hobbies including deep sea fishing quail and dove hunting field trialing his dogs and photography.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years Barbara Burgman Thompson his parents Nell and Edward Thompson. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Edwards; son Robert and daughter-in-law Trudy Thompson of Crawfordville FL; granddaughter Amanda Lawhon; and sister-in-laws Dorothy Mendonsa of Tampa FL and Elizabeth Burgman of Port Orange FL.
