Edward Johann Stress, 56, was taken from us and delivered into His arms on February 7, 2016. He was born in Munich, Germany where his father was stationed at that time in the military service. They traveled all over the United States, but ultimately settled in Dallas, Texas, and that is where he called home.

Ed served a brief stint in the United States Marine Corp and later started a career as A police officer in Fort Worth, Texas in 1981. In 1990, Ed moved to Key West, Florida where he served as a patrol officer, motor officer, and later became the traffic and K-9 unit sergeant. He then moved to Port Orange, Florida in 2003 and served on the police department there until he medically retired in late 2005.

Ed has a passion for motorcycles, riding since the age of 9. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially the grand-children. He made friends quickly wherever he was. We will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Michele Stress; his mother. Irmgard (Schwojar) Stress; a sister, Conny O'Connor (Pat), and nephews, Sean and Brandon; a daughter, Jennifer Peterson (Michael), and grandsons, Johnathan and Samuel; a son, Edward Joseph Stress (Marissa), and grandsons, Ethan and Kenny; a step-daughter, Audrey Merritt (Joshua), and granddaughters, Chloe and Emma; and a step-daughter Kyerste Conrad.

A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2 Fairgreen Ave., New Smyrna Beach. An interment service will be held at a later date at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
