Edward R. Prellwitz, 89, of Palm Coast, and formerly of Miami Shores, FL, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2013 at the Port Orange Care Center, Port Orange, Florida.
A private interment is planned for the family in July at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. All Services are under the direct supervision of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.
Edward was born in Ripon, Wisconsin. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a Veteran of World War II. After the war, he went to Miami where he met his beloved wife of 67 years, Margaret. They settled down together in Miami where they raised their family, and stayed residents of the area for 65 years. Edward was a long time member of the Miami Shores Presbyterian Church and volunteered his skills as a cabinet maker to the church, for Georges Toy Shop. The Toy Shop made wooden toys and distributed them to underprivileged children at Christmas time.
Edward was also very active in the Lions Club, serving as a Chapter President and President of the Florida, Lions Eye Bank. He also proudly served as Treasurer for the Eye Bank, managing its works with the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute located in Miami.
Edward was preceded in death by his only daughter, Patricia Ann, in 1982. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Margaret of Palm Coast; son Charles Prellwitz and daughter-in-law Jeanette of Palm Coast.
