Edward S. "Poppa Hughes" Hughes age 77 passed away quietly at his home Feb. 15 2010 after a lengthy illness. A funeral service followed by entombment will follow in his honor will be held Friday February 19 2009; 2:00 in the Chapel of Peace at Deland Memorial Gardens 600 E Beresford Ave. Deland Florida. He is survived by Elsie Hughes his wife of 31 years; daughters Carrie Bacon and Debbie Clinton; and son James Hughes; Several step children including: Jo Ann Harvey Charlene Wisely Lori Kovacich Patty Royal Donald Martin Tommy Martin Donna Adams Kathy Ogle Perry Ogle Jackie Pencka; Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ed and Elsie also cared for more than 39 foster children during their marriage.
Ed served in the US Army and until very recently was a long time resident of DeLand where he worked 18 years at Duval Home. Elsie would like to offer a special thanks to her family and friends who extended prayers and support during Ed's illness. She is especially thankful that Phillip was there when his Papaw needed him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to his wife to help pay for medical expenses. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Beach.
