Edward G. Hoon age 65 of Port Orange passed away Monday November 11 2010. A memorial service will take place Friday November 26 2010 at 11:00am at The Living Cornerstone Church 1835 Taylor Road Port Orange.
Ed was born in Galesburg Illinois on March 11 1945 to George Virgil Hoon and Mary Elizabeth Dalton. Ed was raised in Moline Illinois with sister Jolene and graduated from Rock Island High School. He continued his education at Blackhawk State College in Moline Illinois and earned a Bachelor's degree. Edward's career path led him to join the United States Army where he served in the Military Police; he later worked as an Armed Guard for Brinks. In 1984 Ed moved to Florida from Rock Island Illinois. It was here he was able to pursue his passions for golf the beach travel and spending private time with the Lord. In 1988 Ed married the love of his life Karen Lake Wallbaum. Those who knew and loved him will remember Ed as an adoring husband loving father and cherished grandfather. Left to treasure their memories of Ed are his wife of 23 years Karen sons Rick Hoon Edward Wellbaum (Amy) Kenneth Alex Wellbaum; Daughters Amy H. Wellbaum Harr (Dana) Gwen Wellbaum King (Gary); Sister Jolene Smeltzer; and three grandchildren. Ed was proceeded in death by his beloved daughter Victoria.
